The New Me
“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland” (Isaiah
43:18-19)
Beginning today I know I can be
the me I have aways wanted to be.
I'm ready to grow. I am ready to live.
I have so much to learn and so much to give.
I now turn away from lying and cheating.
I've failed a few times and have taken a beating.
But I know there is more and I'm ready to change.
I'll stop playing victim and stop playing games.
I've never taken responsibility
for the things that I want or
the things that I need.
But now is the time and today I will choose
to grow up and show up
and, for once, follow through.
No more blaming others for the
messes I make.
No being a victim when I chose my fate.
No need to judge others or try to impress;
I want to instead see who I can bless.
My gifts and my talents are wasting away
But I stop that pattern beginning
today.
WIth God as my guide, I start out anew
No excuses, no whining, just commitment to do
the things that bring peace and the things that bring joy
instead of always chasing after life's latest toy.
That luxury car and
designer label clothes
will only result in me being exposed
as a fake, an imposter, an actor of sorts
who's just seeking attention and showing my warts.
The sky is the limit if I'm willing to see
that I'm the one in control
of my destiny.
No one else can make my life work for me
I'm the one who creates my legacy.
It may not be easy but I will not stop.
This is a ball I can't afford to drop.
I want to be an example that others can follow.
My past is imperfect but I'm looking toward tomorrow,
Beginning today I know I can be
the me I have aways wanted to be.
I'm ready to grow. I am ready to live.
I have so much to learn and so much to give.
Ashe! Amen. And so it is!
“You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness”
(Ephesians 4:22-24)
